I turned 60 on March 13th, two days later I fainted and woke up with a terrible headache. We were in Texas at the time, we go down for the winter. When I got home the first week of April I went to the family dr., still had the headache, and she sent me to a Nuerologist to try and find out what was causing the headache. I have seen 6 Dr.'s now and noone could tell me why the headache was so bad. I awoke on June 15th and the headache was better than it had been since it started, but I could not see very well, my left eye had no sight and my right eye was blinking. I had an appointment with my sleep Dr., they thought I had sleep aphena and this was causing my headaches. He sent me for an MRI, it discovered I had a massive stroke that had affected my optial nerve that tells my brain what it is seeing. I was put on Plavix, I had been taking a baby aspirin for years. Only my vision was effected, I was very lucky.
Now it is 6 weeks later and my vision is getting dimmer, I had another MRI last nite and was told there was no change since the MRI I had that discovered the stroke. My Dr. thought I had another stroke.
My question to you all is if it isn't another stroke what has made my eyes worse? I have been to my eye dr. and he says my eyes are in good shape. It's my brain that is not working right. My understanding was my vision could get better but not worse. Anyone have any idea what is going on? My headaches have come back again, not as bad as before the stroke but still bad enough to be of concern.
I should probly tell you I am a insulin dependent diabetic. Sorry this is so long but it has been a really long summer so far. Thanks for any help or suggestions you might have.
