You have to get after them. Did you apply on line? Did you apply? Insist you are seen by their doctor and insist that you can't get there and then they send someone to pick you up - wait at the doc and get you home. Just let them know how bad things…

I went to the VA and according to the therapist he said that I am past that and have what is called Apraxia which is news to me but I think the guy knows what he is talking about as he works at the Center for aging at Tripler Army Hospital and has been to school for the device.......

The VA and they said in my case the hand thing would not help so I talked with Pete and he recommended a flexi grip they have them on Amazon.com so one is on the way.............. You have to realize I live on an island with one GP doctor so in some ways this works to my advantage as there is NOBODY to tell me what I can or cannot do so this I do believe works to my advantage, the town was freaking out when they saw me riding a motorcycle? LOL I still drive here as we have no traffic to speak of and keep myself busy on the computer now and am trying to regain the ability to play my guitars,I would be much happier if I did not have severe ostioporosis as I had to sell the motorcycle and cant surf any more but at least my Grandchildren know me?

Ah yes, practicing. . . Truly my favorite endeavor . . . "how do you get to Cargenie Hall". . .
Thanks for getting back to me. I'll do as you suggested and ask at the desk.
Cheers, Alex.

Hi 88!

I made contact with Rose over at LIJ regarding the support group meeting tomorrow (2/10) at 1:30 pm. I have every intention of attending - God willing. Her instructions to the meeting room sounded very confusing to me. Would you be able to provide me with an easier, more direct route, from the parking garage to the conference room? I will have difficulty enough trying to get from parking into the hospital on my own without taking a whole hospital tour ;-). I would greatly appreciate any info. Also, if it is easier, here's my phone # 516 285 0559. Many thanks, Alex.

Hi 88, Hope all is well with you. Peter suggested that I contact you regarding the Stroke Support group at Long Island Jewish, which meets once a month. I am interested in attending as a regular participant. Would you please be so kind as to share with the where, when, time and phone number of the contact person, if possible. I think that this would be good for me. . . Many, many thanks, All the best, Alex

Thank you for your beautiful response. I would love to come and hear you play on March 1st. God willing, I'll be there. Yes, I've heard that musicians brains are wired where both the right and left hemisphere communicate to each other differently. During the times that I've actually brought myself to the piano (an emotionally challenging thing for me to do), My right hand plays, my brain sends signals to my left hand. It's amazing to me that ALL the information is there. I know exactly what my left hand should be doing. However, I can't lift my arm, open my hand, or move my fingers to do it......yet. All in good time. . . I guess.
