HI Linda,
My father had a stroke at his favorite place, Hyvee! On January 14th.It's his second home, just kidding. He is 84. He was taken to a close hospital and was given TPA, in ER . It was successful, we should have ran when we had the chance, from that point on, in ICU because they had better staff to watch him, yea right! Anyway after many drugs, Ativan, Trazadole, Haldol, and on and on, we have alot of fruit salad. We were given only 1 choice and that was to leave the hospital and admit him for an attitude adj, to a pshy center, of course under the same umbrella as the hospital, (it's just medicare fraud), anyway long story short, he is now in a nursing home, not much resorative being done, because his attention span is not much, he is in the alz and dementia unit. I know his words are there but , they don't come out right and then he gets very frusrated. Can't he hear that a word or sentence doesn't sound right? I have tried reading about what I can do to help on my visits. Would any of the dvd's/flash cards help? I know nothing will help if he is ready to give up. thanks for any advice.
I am my Father's daughter.

Hi Linda,
I saw your post on Bec's page about Steve. . . . I noticed that she had him added as a friend. He invited me to join this group also. I miss him, too.
