Dont know how it is down under but they now are just plain evil when it comes to Grog in this countryand even if you only had one or two no matter the circumstance of the incident they will try to frame you as a raving alcoholic? I do not need the extra hassle of going to court to explain why I urinate in public?

Hi Peter
Yes my stroke was from right middle cerebral artery clot - cause of this as yet unknown despite heaps of tests. The damage could have been a lot worse. Iam optimistic about the future. I DON'T HAVE ANY DEPRESSION AT THIS TIME, just the normal occasional down day. Iam pleased about that. Ithink it would be good for my recovery to have daily physio but I can't afford that at this time. I continue to practise walking with and without stick. Iam thinking of hiring a stepper machine for daily aerobic exercise. Iwill certainly contact you when Iam coming up your way.
Cheers

Hi again,
Inoticed 2 things from reading yourposts 1) you have no physical symptoms from you stroke and 2) you kissed the blarney stone in Ireland. I was wondering how you managed this post stroke as I was there in 2007 pre stroke and couldn"t manage it then let alone now. Iam looking forward to doing some more overseas trips but I concerned about how i will manage even though I will have my husband with me. I guess I had better work harder on the walking.
Cheers

Hi Peter,
I have a daughter and grandson living in Bellingen so I AM SURE TO BE TRAVELLING YOUR WAY later this year. I ill let you know so we can meet somewhere in Coffs Harbour. I understood your comments re the jam up in the rehab units. Ihave an appointment on Friday with a group called Second Skin who produce dynamic splints to assist in overcoming spasticity and enabling possible functional movement (Iam hoping for help with my left arm/hand) I will let you know eventually how it goes. Iimagine it will be quite expensive. How do you get rehab up there in Coffs?
Cheers

Hi Peter,
7.5 months since my stroke. No recovery in arm/hand yet, but I am working on my walking. I am disappointed in the services which seem to be available here in Aus especially as compared to what is apparentlyavaailable in US. iT SEEMS TO ME THAT i WILL HAVE TO PAY PRIVATELY FOR EXCELLENT SERVICE. Idon't know where you are, maybe NSW since you mention taking your mother to Sydney.
Iwas CEO of my own training company when I HAD MY STROKE. lUCKILY MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO TAKE OVER DAY TO DAY RUNNING OF COMPANY FOR ME. wE HAVE SINCE HIRED A new CEO AND THIS WILL BE OF GREAT HELP as my husband has has been running the company as well as caring for me and doing a great job of both.
Ihave decided to retire but continue with some consultancy type projects out of interest. My major occupation now is rehab and researching rehab possibilities.
If you are close to Newcastle we may be able to meet. Is this possible?
Cheers

I wanted to tell you what I found in my bed when I woke up this morning..... -my 100 pound dog! He knows he's not supposed to get on my bed, but he snuck on in during the night. He's my best friend, but he belongs on the floor! He hung his head and got down when he realized I was awake. I've had him for 8 years and he stayed with me for 6 hours before someone found me when I had my first seizure. He was also with me when I had my heart attack and stroke so I guess I'll let him get away with getting on my bed this time. He's a good friend!

The Adirondack Mountains are in the middle of New York State in the United States. I am like you with the good times - they come and go. I think it goes with the stroke. I won't take any medicine for it because I am on too many meds already. My good times come from my 9 grand children! I spent some time with 3 of them today and that is always fun! Please stay to the good side!
