Hi Ron.

Thank you for the welcome. I've been looking for a support group and this appears to be a responsive group. I'm hoping to find someone who's going through a similar experience to mine.

Hey Ron, How's it going? Just finished watching the Super Bowl and now I'm procrastinating about some studying I have to do, so I figured I'd say hello

Thanks for the note Ron. My stroke was in October of 2002. I'm moving on well, but my left hand is somewhat useless,I walk with a cane and my eyesight is not great. Prior to the stroke I was as pretty active individual, into sports, playing music and other things. My guitar playing career is over, but I still sing with s basnd and continue to record my own music with other musicians playing the parts for me.I'm a first time college student since 2006 and all things being equal, I consider myself blessed. The biggest thing I've learned is Dont Quit! It all works out in God's time. Stay strong

Hi Ron! Glad to have you as a friend. We're in the same basic area. I'm in Nassau County on Long Island. I'm 53 and 6 years past my stroke. Over time I graduated from the walker to a '4 poster' cane and finally to a regular cane. I'm divorced and my daughters are grown so I live alone (They wanted me to go from the hospital to a nursing home after the stroke, but I got my own place instead and today I'm in my third year of college at Adelphi University. How are you coming along recovery-wise?

Multiple dimensions of Wealth

Multiple Dimensions of Wealth
The Wealth of Positive Mental Attitude
Perhaps American psychiatrist Dr. Karl Menninger summed it up best when he said “Attitudes are more important than facts.” A positive mental attitude can serve as the cornerstone of your success as well as provide a strong, healthy foundation for all that you do in life. The riches of a positive mental attitude can be beyond comprehension. I would not be able to make this claim if it were not for being stricken by a devastating… Continue

Overcoming Stroke One Step at a Time

I would like to share a video of me and my family which was recently aired on LIfetime Television's HealthCorner TV program. I hope it will be a source of inspiration and hope to others. I'm wishing everyone the best in health and wellness. Here is the link to the TV show for your convenience.

Love and Gratitude for my wife and caregiver

I want to give my love and gratitude to my wife and caregiver Patti. We just celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary. We were high school sweethearts and including the dating years preceding our marriage, we have been together for 37 wonderful years. It is difficult at times for a person to be both a spouse and a caregiver. It is a fine line. I want to pay tribute to all caregivers out there I believe they deserve credit for a job well done. A life altering event can be hard on a family but with… Continue

Heart Ball

My wife Patti and I were very excited to attend the Philadelphia Heart Ball. The evenings events raised over one million dollars for programs to support the American Heart Association. Their mission is building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. We had a great time and really enjoyed the evenings festivities. I'm working on getting a few photos posted soon.
