Hi Susan,
It sounds like we have a lot in common. I, also, am Catholic; my husband didn't die... but he left 10 years ago, and last year, my family was torn apart. I have a teenager that every day I feel the pain of their not being here; I had lost my faith and was truly feeling despair, and I can see my depression affecting my 12 year old (and my son when he's here); and there's no money.
I find a lot of comfort/ hope in songs.... my favorite song these days is Jeremy Camp's "There Will Be A Day".. with no more tears, no more pain, no more fears.... when the burdens of this place will be no more, we'll see Jesus face to face....

Another great song that will speak to you where you are is "Praise You In The Storm" by Casting Crowns...

Life is more painful than I ever imagined.... but, "god is close to the brokenhearted, and to those who are crushed in spirit".... Psalm 34: 18

I don't believe that it's a work of God.... just the opposite.... Satan has lots of "tools" in his tool box to try to turn us away from God. And, I've heard all of that all of my life.... "that God doesn't give us more than we can handle".... I have come to disagree.... I believe that He does allow us to have more than we can handle.... that's why we turn to Him in our need.... because we can't do it without Him.

Try to be real he did not do it? We often like to think so but if you really think about it we are blessed EVERY day we open our eyes pain free and have to work with what we have he never gives us more than we can handle, life is about choices you made try to choose what is best.
